Early Childhood Zoo Designs

The 4 year-olds in our early childhood classes created amazing zoo designs. This three-day project was great fun and complex for the kids. We read several books about zoo animals, then drew the overall design of a zoo adding pathways, ice cream and hot dog vendors and of course the zoo train. We left several rectangles empty to become cages for the animals. Next, we printed our animals from zoo animal stamps using primary colors; once dry we cut out our animals and glued them into their cages. Finally, we couldn’t let our animals escape from their cages so we added black paper strips as the cage bars!
